Tourism is not limited to visiting historical or natural sites; many tourists also enjoy exploring modern attractions during their stay at a destination. In Tehran, there are many options for such visitors — one of them is Iran Mall, a vast recreational and leisure complex that also includes an enormous shopping centre. This complex is also known as the Grand Bazaar.

Features and History of Iran Mall  

The Iran Mall complex covers a total area of 1,669,504 square meters. In terms of size, Iran Mall is considered one of the largest shopping centres in the Middle East. It is located in District 22 of Tehran Municipality, on the eastern side of the city. Access to this vast complex is available via the Shahid Kharrazi Expressway. The mall is situated near Chitgar Park and Lake of the Martyrs of the Persian Gulf. The first phase of Iran Mall was inaugurated in 2018 (1397 in the Iranian calendar). The second phase opened two years later. Additional sections are planned to be added to the complex in future phases.

Sections and Facilities of Iran Mall
Nearly 30 percent of the complex’s total area is dedicated to shopping centers and commercial units. These centres operate in several sections and offer a wide variety of goods. Among the main products available in Iran Mall’s shopping areas are groceries, hygiene products, home appliances and interior decorations, leather goods, jewellery and accessories, cosmetic products, and clothing. A three-story automobile showroom is also open to visitors. The exhibition spaces of the Grand Bazaar of Iran are designed in a way that allows flexible rearrangement according to the exhibition’s purpose. The movable wall panels of the exhibition halls can be adjusted using a special system to create booths of different sizes* as needed. 

Iran Mall’s sports facilities are also remarkable: an ice rink, tennis court, bowling hall, gym, and a wellness trail create an attractive environment for sports enthusiasts. The complex includes 12 movie theaters, all equipped with the latest audiovisual technologies, offering an immersive experience where viewers can truly feel part of the film. Another highlight of Iran Mall is its variety of restaurants and cafés, serving a wide selection of drinks, snacks, and both Iranian and international cuisines. The accommodation section of the Grand Bazaar of Iran features two five-star hotels with 211 and 195 rooms. The exclusive 18-story hotel includes not only luxury rooms and amenities but also multiple banquet and reception halls.

Although Iran Mall is a modern complex, its design incorporates elements of traditional Iranian architecture. The most prominent example is the Persian Garden, inspired by the Shazdeh Garden in Kerman, measuring 51 by 175 meters. This garden starts from the first parking level and extends up to the second commercial floor, featuring various types of plants. The mall’s infrastructure and service systems are engineered to minimize energy consumption as much as possible.

Overview of the Main Exhibition and Bazaar Area The main exhibition and bazaar section covers nearly 45,000 square meters over five floors, and includes:

Ground floor: lobby, exhibition hall, administrative offices, bank, currency exchange, taxi service office, prayer room, emergency unit, and fire station.

First floor: hall, terrace, and performance stage equipped with a large video wall used for various events.

Second floor: a 6,600-square-meter hall, of which 4,500 square meters are available for booth setups.

Third floor: divided into northern and southern sections — the northern part hosts workshops, seminars, and business meetings, while the southern part houses the offices of exhibition management centers.

Fourth floor: dedicated to support, technical, and service departments.
